Experience the Charm of Mie Prefecture’s Cuisine at VISON

The concept of “food” at VISON. Within its vast grounds, equivalent to 24 Tokyo Domes, there is a gourmet area where various cuisines can be enjoyed.

This includes the “Marché Vison,” a direct-from-farm market supervised by Ryuji Teshima, Michelin-starred owner-chef of “Restaurant Pages” in Paris; “Sweets Village,” produced by patissier Hironobu Tsujiguchi; “Wa Vison,” where leading Japanese chefs gather; “San Sebastian Street,” a gourmet street featuring bars from the “food city” of San Sebastian, Spain; and an “Agricultural Area” where you can experience harvesting organic vegetables – truly a theme park for food lovers.

Among these, the highlight is the newly renovated “AT CHEF MUSEUM” inside “Wa Vison,” which reopened on July 24, 2023. Based on the concept of “a museum where the chef’s cuisine is the artwork,” it offers a space where you can enjoy a variety of dishes, including Japanese, Western, Chinese, and sweets, all using abundant Mie Prefecture ingredients. This space allows visitors to fully experience the allure of Mie Prefecture’s cuisine.

Enjoy Healing Experiences Utilizing Rich Nature

From VISON’s concept of “healing,” there are facilities that offer experiences unique to the nature-rich Taki Town. Utilizing the traditional “herbal medicine” practice prevalent in Taki Town, the “Herbal Medicine Area” has been established as a joint research and dissemination site by Mie University and Rohto Pharmaceutical. This area includes a hot spring facility, an herbal research institute, and a medicinal herb garden. Based on the concept of “Shichijuniko” which represents the movements of weather and changes in flora and fauna, they have formulated their unique “Herbal Medicine Shichijuniko,” providing 72 types of medicinal herb baths throughout the year, unique to this land.

In the “Mineral Mist Bath Le Furo,” you can enjoy a mist bath that immerses your body in a mist containing high-quality natural minerals extracted from the rare “hot spring shale layer.” This new hot spring habit of “bathing in mist” is a wonderful way to soothe a tired body.

Also, the “Herbal Research Institute RINNE,” which sells herbal teas, lifestyle goods, soaps, cosmetics, and food products, includes a cafe themed around organics and veganism. The cafe is staffed by experts in food, including phytotherapists and agricultural specialists, ready to meet your needs. Workshops using herbs are also held.

Learn About Food and Nature Using All Five Senses

From VISON’s concept of “knowledge,” you can enjoyably learn and experience food and nature using all five senses.

In the “Wa Vison” area, dedicated to understanding and experiencing food, there are workshops and specialty stores for traditional Japanese ingredients such as kombu, bonito flakes, soy sauce, miso, mirin, and vinegar. In the miso brewery, you can participate in daily hands-on miso-making workshops, and in the mirin and vinegar breweries, you can tour the manufacturing process. You can experience and appreciate the charm of Japanese cuisine, now a part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Furthermore, “ATELIER VISON,” produced by ceramic artist Kōichi Uchida, communicates the culture of cooking tools. The “Shape Museum” displays cooking tools from around the world, and the facility also includes a shop.

For experiencing and feeling nature, there’s the “Kiiku Area” with “kiond.” This area is themed around “rich times cultivated by people and wood,” promoting the joy of experiencing and learning about real wood with all five senses. Not just a fun kids’ park, it also offers a variety of workshops and activities enjoyable for adults, making it a place where people of all ages can learn and have fun.

Feel the Great Outdoors at VISON’s Accommodation Facilities

VISON also offers accommodation facilities where you can enjoy and feel nature. We have three types of lodging with different concepts: the “Hotel Building” boasting outdoor terraces to savor the grandeur of Taki Town’s nature, the luxurious “Villa” with open-air baths for an extraordinary experience, and the “Inn,” where you can actively enjoy Japan’s traditional elegance in a casual stay.

Both the “Hotel Building” and the “Villa” offer rooms where guests can stay with their dogs, complete with amenities like hand-washing areas, cages, and toilet sheets.

We invite you to forget the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a moment of healing in nature.
