Spacious Guest Rooms Recreating a Mediterranean Coastal Townscape

Shima Mediterranean Village features five distinct areas inspired by Mediterranean locales: the “Mykonorca Zone” inspired by Greece’s Mykonos and the westernmost Balearic Island of Menorca, the “Alhambra Zone” inspired by the Hammam of Alhambra Palace in Spain, the “Andalusia Zone” based on the coastal region of Southern Spain, the “Castilla Zone” reflecting the expansive plains of the Castilian plateau, and the “Sardinia Zone” inspired by the islands off the western coast of Italy. Each lodging sector offers unique interiors and spacious guest rooms, allowing guests to select accommodations that best fit their party size and travel style.

Taking advantage of its elevated position within the village, the resort offers “Luxury Suites” with bay views overlooking the spectacular Ago Bay, “Twin Rooms” where guests can enjoy a casual stay with views of the bustling village streets, and villa-type “Suite Villas” with separate living rooms and bedrooms. For those traveling with their cherished pets, the limited “WanWan Suites” provide a generous 120㎡ space to relax together in only two available rooms.
Moreover, the Shima Mediterranean Village official YouTube channel features videos of the accommodations. Why not take a preview before your visit?
Exquisite Cuisine Using Seafood from Ise-Shima
Within the village, you can enjoy a variety of dishes that enhance the fresh seafood harvested from the seas around Ise-Shima.

At “RIAS by Kokotxa”, a Michelin-starred collaboration restaurant, you can indulge in “New Basque Cuisine”, a modern reinterpretation of the traditional cuisine from the Basque region of Spain, known for its unique culinary heritage using Atlantic and Mediterranean ingredients. This restaurant collaborates with Michelin-starred “Restaurante Kokotxa” in San Sebastián, where the chef, trained directly by the owner-chef, crafts dishes using the abundant sea and mountain produce of Ise-Shima, similar to the Basque region.

Opened in March 2018, located at the entrance of the new “Mykonorca Zone”, “Taberna Azul” is designed to resemble a seaside boathouse and offers breathtaking views of Ago Bay. It features the “Ise-Shima Buffet” which includes a variety of dishes prepared with Ise-Shima ingredients and unique Mediterranean Village cooking methods. The menu starts with appetizers using fresh Ise-Shima seafood, followed by dishes made with local pork from Mie, Ise chicken, and local wagyu beef. Enjoy colorful pinchos, steaming pasta, and seasonal rice dishes—all chef specialties. In addition to meticulously crafted dishes, local favorites like Ise udon and hand-pressed sushi are also available. With a casual atmosphere, including a wood deck and a banquet room, Taberna Azul is perfect for weddings, parties, and meetings, allowing you and your loved ones to create memorable moments together.

Other dining options include light snacks and tea time in three settings—indoor seats, patio seating, and a café terrace around a fountain—at the casually styled “Cafe Amigo,” which is decorated in Mediterranean blue. Additionally, enjoy a stroll around the village with a drink from “Pescador,” a mainly takeaway café nestled deep in the Andalusia Zone.
Enjoy a Day Trip! Stroll and Shop Through the Town
Within the village, there are three stores where you can find imported goods, accessories, fashion items, and souvenirs from Ise-Shima.

Right next to the front desk, “Casa Amapola” offers an array of fun shopping options, from Mediterranean coastal decor to foreign sweets, original Mediterranean Village merchandise, and local Ise-Shima souvenirs. This shop sells Shima Mediterranean Village original amenity sets, olive oil sets, and Aosa (seaweed) donuts, making it a perfect spot for finding local gifts.

At “Moda”, you can find fashionable items such as bags and clothes, as well as accessories made from domestic genuine pearls, and stylish miscellaneous goods. This store also features rare accessories such as Czech glass button embroidered accessories directly sourced from the Czech Republic, and Damascene crafts from Spain, which are traditional Spanish art pieces.

“Regalos” offers a variety of Mediterranean coastal country goods and ceramics, such as Italian goods, Spanish pottery, and rare Tunisian items. Here, you can find terracotta chicken ornaments from Barcelos in northern Portugal, known for bringing “divine protection and good luck,” each handmade and unique, as well as Spanish ceramics known for their vibrant colors and intricate designs.
Additionally, Shima Mediterranean Village has launched an online shop offering a selection of recommended products, focusing on original goods, interior decorations, handicrafts, and food items.
Enjoy Majestic Nature Through Activities

In the village, you can enjoy a variety of activities, experience plans, and relaxation opportunities throughout the year, all while appreciating the calm beauty of Ago Bay and the grand nature of Ise-Shima.
At “Craft Koubou Recuerdos,” you can create memorable, original designs such as coasters and photo frames using mosaic tiles. The workshop offers assistance from its staff for both first-timers and repeat visitors. There are four types of experiences available: In the first, the “Mosaic Tile Experience,” you can make coasters, pot stands, nameplates, clocks, and trays.

In the second, “Decoupage,” you can cut out your favorite patterns or designs from thin paper and use a special decoupage fluid to create your own designed bottle. The third, the “Whale Pot & Succulent House Experience,” allows you to enjoy planting succulents in an adorably shaped whale pot and a house rooftop. The fourth, the “Pearl Jewelry Experience,” lets you craft your own unique accessories with Akoya pearls and your choice of fittings, available in necklace, bracelet, or strap options.
Besides these experiences, “Craft Koubou Recuerdos” also sells Mexican tiles, mosaic tiles, craft pieces, and DIY kits. Moreover, they offer a “Lunch & Workshop & Hot Springs Full-Day Plan” that includes a course meal at the Michelin-starred restaurant RIAS, a coaster-making workshop, and a hot spring visit, allowing you to fully enjoy Shima Mediterranean Village in a day. They also offer a “Lunch + DIY Workshop Plan” featuring a new menu from RIAS by Kokotxa, a Michelin-starred restaurant from San Sebastian, combined with a coaster-making workshop.

Another can’t-miss activity is the “Agowan Cruise” from the village pier, where you can fully enjoy Ago Bay. This popular activity lets you feel nature up close on a high-speed cruiser. There are four types of cruise activities: The “Shimanya Day Cruise around Ago Bay” lets you experience the natural beauty of Ise-Shima up close on a small cruiser; the “Ago Bay Adventure Cruise” involves high-speed turns and a rollercoaster-like feeling on a boat; the “Sunset Cruise” offers a moment to admire the glowing sunset, a scene listed among Japan’s best sunsets; and the “Night Cruise” provides about 40 minutes of leisurely cruising under a star-filled sky and romantic night views.

Additional experiences include pier fishing, a seasonal outdoor pool, spa massages, and stargazing, among others. For pricing and more details, please check the official website.
