A Small Adventure in Your Hands – Become a Gem Hunter!

The most popular activity at Hakusekikan is the “Gemstone Hunting Experience,” where you can search for around 30 types of gemstones and precious stones hidden in sand.

Using bowls or your hands, you dig through the sand to uncover sparkling gems—an exciting experience that captivates both children and adults.

The activity area is covered, so you can enjoy it even on rainy days. In winter, the experience takes place in dry sand instead of water, allowing for seasonal variations.

You can take home any gems you find, and if you discover a special key, you’ll receive an extra prize! You can even use your collected gems to create your own accessories, turning your memories into something tangible.

Enter the Stone Pyramid – A Journey into Ancient Egyptian Mysteries

One of the museum’s most popular attractions is the “Pyramid Maze,” an immersive experience that offers a mysterious adventure.

This large-scale pyramid—one of the largest of its kind in Japan—is built using 5,500 tons of granite from Hirukawa and is a 1/10 scale replica of the Great Pyramid of Khufu in Egypt.

Inside, you’ll find stone chambers and sarcophagi, along with valuable exhibits such as stones from Egyptian pyramids, messages from the Egyptian ambassador, and even stones from Hiroshima.

The underground maze stretches approximately 350 meters and features a cool, dimly lit environment. The stone walls are decorated with mysterious drawings and patterns, sparking a sense of exploration.

Hidden within the maze are four types of illustrations. By purchasing a rally card (300 yen) at the gemstone hunting counter and finding them all, you can participate in a lottery near the pyramid and receive prizes such as crystal (with no losing tickets).

Why not immerse yourself in this extraordinary world of stone and mystery-solving?

Dig, Discover, and Create – A Treasure-Filled Experience

Other hands-on attractions include the “Mining Experience Hall” and “Accessory-Making Workshop,” both offering a deeper connection to the world of stones.

At the Mining Experience Hall, you can try fossil excavation, rough stone searching, and geode cracking—just like a real mining explorer. The excitement is irresistible for both kids and adults, and you can take your discoveries home as souvenirs.

In the accessory-making workshop, you can create original items such as rings, sun catchers, and gemstone art using your favorite stones. Even young children can enjoy this activity, making it perfect for creating travel memories or gifts.

At Hakusekikan, you can truly experience the charm of stones by seeing, touching, and shaping them.

Famous Pyramid Curry and Unique Souvenirs

Hakusekikan offers not only hands-on experiences but also a variety of dining and shopping options.

At the on-site café and restaurant “MW,” you can enjoy the famous pyramid-shaped curry, along with weekly lunch specials made from local ingredients and dessert sets. The interior, featuring tables and chairs made of stone, adds to the unique atmosphere.

At the “Rocks Garden Café,” located along a forest walkway, you can relax with original blend coffee, pasta, and pizza while enjoying the surrounding nature.

Outdoor stalls offer a variety of light snacks, including freshly fried foods, soft-serve ice cream, and shaved ice.

For souvenirs, the museum shop features many exclusive items available only here—such as gemstones, minerals, accessories, take-home pyramid curry, and “Maguman” buns—perfect for commemorating your visit.

After your adventure, be sure to enjoy a meal or some shopping within the facility to complete your experience.
