Many straw boats, with lanterns lit on them, float down Kiso River. The lanterns’ lights flickering on the river surface are said to be a fantastical sight, loved as a symbol of summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Built in 1537 during the Muromachi Period, Inuyama Castle has experienced the turbulent waves of history, being fought over by Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu, as well as being partially destroyed due to the abolition of feudal domains and also from major earthquakes.
